WhatsApp is always trying to improve its services, and after several changes, it has introduced lately, the app comes with a few new features for its users.
The first function to be introduced in the latest version refers to the use of data. You can now monitor how much mobile data you’ve used in total, and how much you netted through the files you’ve sent or received. It can be very useful if you have a data limit. In the Data / Storage Usage menu, you’ll see exactly how much data you used for calls, media, Google Drive backups, messages, status, and roaming
Settings will also be changed in the Settings menu. WhatsApp will change the design of the icons, which will be thinner but will introduce even more text within each section to give users more information about the content and function of each option in the settings menu.
The app will also have a new feature called Payments. This allows you to use WhatsApp as your payment method by using the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), a real-time payment system that facilitates interbank transactions. So if you connect your bank account with your phone number, you can use the app to send and receive money. Of course, it is already available in some countries but now it is globalized.
These new features are only available to Android users and are currently only for a beta. But they should be launched soon for everyone. Earlier in 2019, WhatsApp introduced an additional security measure, including the introduction of TouchID or FaceID authentication to keep others away from your conversations in the app.
