iOS 13: Expectations Came To Reality

At last, Apple has released the iOS 13, the new operating system for the iPhone that combines a new look, better features for popular functions and promises better performance. We review their main characteristics.

Better Performance

Performance and optimization are the major aspects that have stood out most during the presentation. For example, unlocking Face ID with iOS 13 is up to 30% faster. And applications will have a smaller download size and will open up to 2 times faster than the current version.

Dark Mode

iPhone users can count on a new Dark Mode that works both in the system and in native apps. The idea is that each element stands out without causing trouble to the user, as we see in the image. The Dark Mode can be activated can be programmed to turn on in a certain period.

Now Manage & Edit Photos Easily

Thanks to the Machine Learning that helps you to organize the visualization of the photographs. For example, hide those photographs that are similar and put in the foreground important events of the day, as we see in the image:

New Login Session

There is a new login, faster and safer. It replaces all the traditional methods to log in (forms, social networks, password, etc.) since the idea is to log in with the Apple ID only.

Siri Renewed

Siri has also received important updates. For example, you will have a more natural voice thanks to Neural Text to Speech (TTS). So it makes the sound natural when reading the news. It also has a greater integration with applications, for example, users have the possibility to use Siri shortcuts to automate orders related to their routines.

On the other hand, Siri can read the messages that arrive at AirPods and can recognize the voices of each member of the family via HomePod.

Maps: New Interface & Better Coverage

Apple promises a new experience for users when using Maps, as it offers more coverage (buildings, roads, land types, etc.) and more accurate information. A special function that has been added is Look Around, with a vision at street level that allows exploring a city with 3D images.

What’s New

  • CarPlay receives a new board to have a better visualization of the maps, music.
  • All memojis that are created will automatically be converted into sticker packages, so users can always have it available for use in different apps.
  • QuickPath, a function to write with one hand with the keyboard. You just have to slide your finger across the keyboard to write.

Availability & Compatibility

According to the plans they have announced, the public beta of iOS 13 will be launched in July, and the stable version will not be available until September.
